The Eyes Of A Child Poem by Juan Olivarez

The Eyes Of A Child

Rating: 5.0

The most wonderous, things that you'll ever see.
Are the eyes of a child, because they hold the key.
To far away places, and worlds full of wonder,
Just look at a child, when you sit down to ponder.

The eyes of a child, what a wonderful sight.
They glow in the night, as they behold fairy light.
Fireflies in the moonlight, are the builders of dreams,
On long summer nights, filled with golden moonbeams.

They see giants, and ogres, an endless parade,
Of goblins, and witches, and mystical blades.
Wielded by barbarians, against wizards so cruel,
Sorcerors and demons, and the thing in the pool.

They see cowboys and indians, and men without fear.
That battle the bad guys for the one they hold dear.
They see white knights on chargers, to the rescue they ride,
To save the fair damsel, or to die by her side.

They behold buccaneers, with their swords steely cold,
Skull and crossbones behind them, fighting for Spanish Gold.
How many times have you told him in vain,
Come inside Captain Blood, from the Spanish Main.

And the sky is the limit, as he flies off to space,
To fight evil aliens, that would conquer our race.
Through the eyes, so they say, you can peek at the soul,
And if that is the case, a child is pure gold.

No worldly treasure, can begin to compare,
To that sweet little elf, with the beautiful stare.
The eyes of a child are more precious to me,
Than the most precious pearl, from the depths of the sea.

This is exquisitely profound and show what beauty there lies in the purity of a child's eyes. You did a wonderful work here it's like a portrait.

Excellent words so well spoken here. Very true. The wonder of children is the way the can so easily, unconditionally love; and the way they can so clearly perceive life all about them. Great write my friend.
