The Godly Rectification Poem by Kaveri Manoharan

The Godly Rectification

Here’s the story of a wrestler,
Who once became an imaginary prisoner.
Living in the lap of luxury,
He forgot his dear ones in misery.
Longing for him, was his forlorn father,
Living for him, was his marooned mother,
Praying for him, was his sweet sister,
Dreaming of him, was his bubbly brother.
But his eyes shut, for when all the wealth he craved,
With his thoughts caught for reputation, in the rink he braved.
Lost in the fantasy of the offer’s and a cheater’s word,
In ecstasy, he left behind all his cemented bonds, and ‘money’ he roared.
Forgetting even his friend who was beside him,
In and out, of all his days, which were of dim.
Finally, when once again in the rink,
All the cheers were for the hunk.
But by a streak of bad luck, he lost in a heavy clank,
Tasting the bitterness of failure, into his friend with a knife he sank!
Then was the beginning of no avail, agony and ache,
When adore, riches, eminence, were at stake.
A life, when fame turned lame, behind the bars in dark,
With all to be heard a barbaric dog’s bark.
Instead of all his elegant poses in snaps, a lot,
Was a criminal’s pathetic close up’s in a mug- shot.
Now instead of the appetizing delicacy,
Lay before him mediocre food, when he pleaded for clemency.
It was then he learnt the fall of his life when he rolled down his bed,
Realizing the moral dream, with which the ‘Almighty’, reformed the lad.
