The Greatest Generation has almost gone Those tough resilient souls…are crying out for rest We mourn them…helpless…as they fall…one by one Misunderstood some-times…they tried their very best.
War stole their childhood…and their smiles Replaced them with a steely…armoured veil That hid their tears…and pain…a while And made it harder… then… for them to fail.
But here today...silent…and at rest We realize the gaping hollow… they leave behind And why we too…try to be… the very best For all their love…held dearly… in our minds.
