The Heart Poem by Edwina Reizer

The Heart

The heart does not know right or wrong.
It only knows how it feels.
It's oblivious to the demands of society.
For at the altar of love it kneels.

It suppliantly asks for what it needs
and responds on every day
with rushing beats or soothing calm
when love has come its way.

And so dear heart that beats in me
I act upon your will.
I defy anything or anyone
that tries to keep you still.

It's true that the heart does seem to fall into a different sphere than the mind. I really enjoyed this one. Spiritsong
