The Heart Gets Tired Poem by Myrtle Glo Oliquino

The Heart Gets Tired

Rating: 4.5

The heart gets tired -
When darkness seems infinite
And it has scratched and fought its will and tried
Still pitch-black shadows remain, it gets tired.

The heart gets tired -
When it has loved and cared for too long
And the coldness it receives just won't inspire
The heartbeats gradually slow down, it gets tired.

The heart gets tired -
When all it does is give and give
And when its vessel of love is not refilled
It runs dry and brittle, it gets tired.

The heart gets tired -
When pain has soaked it up for ages
And its goodness gets corrupted by bile and fire
Broken, rundown, cold, and all alone, it gets tired.
