The Holy Hermit Poem by Briony Nicholls

The Holy Hermit

Rating: 4.9

There once was a holy hermit, who
Serenely victorious,
Emerges from his wilderness, and declares:

“I now need to make myself sufficiently mad,
And to once again find pleasure in pain,
So as to be able to participate in society again”

He wavers in dread, promptly
Returns to his wilderness instead
Never to be seen again.

And to once again find pleasure in pain, wavers in dread Returns to his wilderness Disappeard…. Your poems are very philosophical and make the reader thinking a lot. I read many of your poems. Love your poems.. the hermit, his wilderness, his desire to be again in the world, gets dirtied and disappears…. The conflicts of human mind, the desire to be near God Through abstinance and chastisement and then again the desire to enjoy the pleasures oft he world and disappears. A wonderful theme. It touched me.. thank you dear poet. tony

That Holy hermit was actually a very wise man. Ha ha. A humourous little piece Briony. Crisp and matter of fact. Well done.
