The Hunting Dog Poem by Terry Dawson

The Hunting Dog

Rating: 4.5

The hunting dog
Is bent on hog
As freely flows saliva
And rapid paced
The frightened chased;
Will he be survivor?
With bloody claw
Is writ the lore:
Experience is advisor.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This little poem was inspired by a striking photograph of a cape hunting dog in headlong persuit off a warthog. I coullldn help but wonder how the life and death struggle ended.

A lovely observation of a photograph and a nice conversion in a poem.
