The King Of Rairakhol Poem by LALATENDU KABI

The King Of Rairakhol

Rating: 5.0

In a cottage palace roofed with earthen tiles
Lived A king who ruled twenty square miles. 1

Twenty thousand citizens, and an army of ten
And a chief of Army he had to protect his men. 2

Fifty persons had he, in uniformed police,
Some provinces, and a governor in each province. 3

All night he ensured his thirty lanterns lit,
Guards had to wake all night, and he was strict. 4

They had to keep beating drums all the night,
If the drum-beat stopped, he would wake up right. 5

His citizens were proud at this amazing thing,
That the whole kingdom was run by a single King. 6

In free India, like others' His kingship did roll,
Ah! The great King in Odisha, of Rairakhol. 7
