The Knowing Of Geoffrey Poem by steve stirk

The Knowing Of Geoffrey

Geoffrey James would always come
And stand right at the back
Others thought he'd been struck dumb
And Often gave him flack

Geoffrey James was in the frame
But never to the fore
And reminiscence gave no name
So no one seemed quite sure

Geoffrey James was long forgot
On every photograph
And no one really knew a lot
And those who did would laugh

'Geoffrey James' the teachers said
'Unlikely to succeed
and might as well stay home in bed
as nothing will he heed'

'He's Mr Insig-nifi-cant'
They said of Geoffrey James
'And either shy or ignorant
With neither brains of aims'

'That's years ago, and long forgot'
The headmaster proclaims
'And time for losers, I have not
The likes of Geoffrey James'

The school has now been closed they say
An OFSTED file laid claims
The Chief who made the expose'
Had signed it Geoffrey James
