The Last Appeal Poem by Bireswar Halder

The Last Appeal

Rating: 3.5

My tearful eyes always search for you, day in and day out
Detachment only makes my life very unhappy and painful
I know I committed many mistakes in life unknowingly
You could have excused me with your gem of a heart.

I realise my life is fully meaningless without you.
As stringsless sitar, it's without rhythm and soothing melody
It's only a showpiece having no value in real sense at all
I don't know when I will be fortunate to meet you again.

Without you the beautiful moonlight seems to be pallid
I don't find any pleasures and always feel heartsick
I start crying instead of laughing, full of grief.
Love makes me blind for you but you left me in crisis.

Like a rambler I wander from one corner to another for you
Sometimes feeling lost, I rush to the temples
Likewise churches and mosques but nowhere I find you
It's sheer waste of time not to be closing in to your pilgrim soul

I have got all modern amenities which seem to be valueless
I spent a whole life running after temporary pleasures
I wait for a divine hug from you like Krishna-Sudama
Oh dear, please come once before leaving for heavenly abode.
