The Lessons Of War Poem by Ravi Panamanna

The Lessons Of War

Rating: 5.0

Wars are fought-
In the name of races,
Religion, power, and fortresses,
For kingdoms and expansion,
For territories and legions.

Wars are fought-
To defend challenges, motherland,
In defense of ideologies,
In the name of politics,
To quench the ruling ego.

Thus the pages of history endorsed.
Peasants turned to refugees,
Soldiers became martyrs,
Their wives remained widows.

Kingdoms followed kingdoms,
Wars followed wars.
Treaties followed umpteen,
Civilisations disappeared in graves.

Time preserves the ruins,
Museums echo aloud a clamoring past.
From behind those glass cases
Does the Past forewarn us, frown, or
Throw a mystic smile unto humanity?

This is a marvellous poem on war, life and kingdom having stunning and touching expression with historical back ground. The ruined and heartfelt picture of war has been painted here absolutely. Let it be quoted some lines here.... Wars are fought- To defend challenges, motherland, In defense of ideologies, In the name of politics, To quench the ruling ego. Thus the pages of history endorsed. Peasants turned to refugees, Soldiers became martyrs, Their wives remained widows. Many thanks dear Ravi for posting this poem in order to have an awareness. Full vote.

Thus the pages of history endorsed. Peasants turned to refugees, Soldiers became martyrs, Their wives remained widows. Kingdoms followed kingdoms, Wars followed wars. Treaties followed umpteen, Civilisations disappeared in graves. A beautiful mixture of an alarming message with a human approach. Thanks poet for the sharing. 10+++ for it.
