The Lies She Tells Poem by Paul Trotter

The Lies She Tells

The lies she tells rip through my heart like a knife through butter
Severing the tendons and muscles that once bound us together as one being…one soul
The lies she tells are hurtful and inconsiderate, boxing me in like a trapped animal

I feel the loneliness…and count the quite moments without her
Anger grips my soul as I contemplate the thoughts of her with another
She spoke of love and kindness
Her words dropped upon my heart like stolen kiss
She spoke of a future and fulfillment
The reality was further from the truth
Bitterness remains in the empty caverns once filled with an iridescent glow of love

My emotions have lied I am betrayed and robbed of joy
No more walks alone… peering into eyes that grabbed my mortality
The gates of our love are broken and lay waste upon hinges of earth
I caught them…caught them in full pleasure upon the bed of betrayal
Bodies writhing in a dance of hate and lust
Why me I spoke deep with in the inner bowels… and shed a tear for mercy

No more…the fields have now become polluted with the essence of life
She has played as it were the harlot upon burning grass no more to be enjoyed
I am alone yet free, I am hurt yet unburdened, I am….no more
