The Light Poem by Ray Hansell

The Light

I watch the flame on the candle flicker
Reminding me of how much I miss her
Sitting here in the dark alone
The candle makes me think she's home
She always loved to watch the flame
With the shadows on the wall she'd play games
She liked the candles that had a scent
Said it reminded her of the orient
Of a special memory that she won't let go
It was someone she knew from long ago
Now that she's been laid to rest
She'll no longer have to face the test
Of struggling through life each day
An eternal light now leads her way
