We were a chandelier of poets,
shedding light from sea to shining sea,
but the light was dimmed
because you weren't there.
You have fought the fight,
you have kept your faith,
and you have battled your cancer
with such good grace,
but the war has taken its toll,
your body has grown tired,
your mind weary,
and saturated with pain,
longing to be,
just once again,
the way you were,
dreaming of yesterday.
