The Litany Of The Migrants Or The Plaints Of The Refugees Poem by Hebert Logerie

The Litany Of The Migrants Or The Plaints Of The Refugees

We have fled ignorance
We have fled violence
We have fled intolerance
We have fled incompetence
We have fled nuisance
We have fled pittance
We have fled corruption
We have fled deception
We have fled malnutrition
We have fled racism
We have fled cronyism
We have fled nepotism
We have fled madness
We have fled sadness
We have fled lewdness
Listen to our sad song
They have done wrong
To us, and now we're strong.

We have fled nonsense
We have fled impertinence
We have fled impatience
We have fled assassination
We have fled intoxication
We have fled exploitation
We have fled fighting
We have fled hanging
We have fled kidnapping
We have fled hypocrisy
We have fled stupidity
We have fled impunity
We have fled impurity
We have fled insanity
We have fled many naughty
People on this vast planet
And we're willing to bet
That they're on the internet.

The door of hell is wide open
But the door of heaven is closed
Nobody really knows
How hot is Satan's oven
We fled because we had too
We did what we had to do
We have fled the deluge
Wherever we are this refuge
Is, of course, temporary
For all; yes, for you, and for me.
