The Long Road Poem by dave lessard

The Long Road

It's a long, long road to truth
when one's rebellious and uncouth
when one walks a different way
when one don't take time to pray.
When this world calls out to you
because you know not what to do
because the body's flesh is weak
by deadly things things you seek.
It's a tortured web we weave
when we first start to deceive
it's a one-way, dead-end street
with the strangers that we meet.
But when our God calls out our name
we transcend our long past shame
and if we beckon to His call
it is then, that we stand tall.
It's a long, long road to truth
from a hard-nosed troubled youth
but from the choices one must make
just remember what's at stake.
