The Loss Of Wonder Poem by Scarlett Treat

The Loss Of Wonder

Rating: 5.0

I don't quite remember
When it was, or maybe
Where it was...

Or even WHO I was
At the time,
Much less whom I was with...

But I do know
I woke up,
A different person...

Than the one
I was
When I went to sleep..

However,
I wasn't alone
When I awoke...

Nor was I alone
The night before,
And I can only wonder...

Who took my wonder,
And maybe my innocence,
Away from me?

Life does that Scarlett Treat, the trick is to get it back in the people we meet.. Andy 10

You have me wondering again about wonder Scarlett.... a sketchy, tantalising write that stretches the reader's mind... I guess that was deliberate.. to make us wonder.. there are unanswered questions here that tell us something significant.. you're a devious poet McDixie.. xxx

This is one of your best, Scarlett. It's simple, direct and honest, and it flows nicely, too. Larry

Like 'I wonder where the wonder went/when I woke in love with dark intent' A cleverly constructed poem which belies its absolute simplicity... Rgds, Ivan

Having read this Donall sums the whole thing up in one.Wonderment in a child's eyes sometimes is diluted by life's experience...but occasionally...very rarely...we experience that wonderment we posessed as children...like seeing sun sparkling off snow blanketed meadows, and a new born calf taking its first steps....Wonderment is one of the most precious elements in life. Its wilfull destruction deliberately or carlessly deprives us of one of the most wonderful of human values. Sid xx.

Ah, Miss S...ya never really lost it! You just grow up and it feels different but that is still how you percieve things..it's what a poet writes with! love Donall Donall

It's a universal story - that line we cross over, like eating the apple in the garden - good write and though I'm sure you've seen some tough times and maybe you misplaced a few things along the way - but you've lost neither a sense of wonder nor your innocense.

Now I hope you won't dwell on this Scarlett, always wondering, just accept this is part of life, a part of growing spiritually and bodily, and learning wisdom and wonder. Loved the read. Love and hugs Ernestine XXX
