The Many Things Poem by Randy McClave

The Many Things

There many things that will never be returning
No matter of your desires or grieving or yearning,
No matter if you live to a very ripe old age
In your book of life, you can never turn back a page.
The times that you have cursed and the lies you had spoken
Will hang around you neck forever like a token,
And you cannot ever undo the words you had said
And they will even be remembered when you're long time dead.
The opportunity that once had passed you by
Never again will that glimmer be held in your eye,
And that beautiful caring woman that you should of kissed
That opportunity, you too have also missed.
Now you might wish that you could redo your yesterday
But, that time has already gone and passed you away,
Now will come the times that you wish to think on
Now, you will reflect to those times after they are all gone.
Promises that you gave were broken once they were made
To desire a forgiveness you have not wanted or prayed,
And when the soul is released and the body turns to dust
You will never again regain a lost trust.
The worst pain or sadness that anyone could ever hold
Are the two words that should had been first told,
When you look upon the nights that are so very starry
Never again will you be given a chance to say, "I'm sorry".
