The Master Puppeteer Poem by Tori Godwin

The Master Puppeteer

We met by random circumstances
And at once, I was intrigued by you
The way you always would have an opinion, but evidence to back it up
You were always able to make me laugh
You started to care about me

You started to write a story and pulled me in
I was a character in your imagination and real life
You were so incredible that I could not escape your charisma
I had never met someone like you
You cared about me

You called me almost every night, telling me anything and everything
I was attached and could not escape
You waited until I was vulnerable and decided to strike
To make me your secret puppet without me knowing
But you said you cared about me

Then you began to manipulate me
You said you loved me, but you constantly lied
You made me feel special like I was the only one
You really cared about me, right?
But you definitely had me fooled

Luckily I had enough sense to know
That I needed to escape your choking grasp
I finally got away, now I'm free
And I realized I never meant anything to you
I was just another victim
You never cared about me...
