If ever told within my Life,
A Poet I would be,
I’d laugh with disbelief and cry
“It could not happen to me.”
For words do not come so easily,
I have to wait and think,
To ponder what I wish to say,
And even then, come what may,
It’s harder than you think.
For Poetry should be in rhyme and scan,
And make some sense to you,
Be not just words written down,
For you to ponder too.
“What are those words the Poet’s writ? ”
“What do they mean to me? ”
“Is there a message in this verse? ”
It is not plain to see.
The message may be hard to find,
But search for it please do,
To see if there is, a message just for you.

I can certainly appreciate your sentiment; before January 2001, I had never viewed myself as a poet. To date, I've written 5 manuscripts and have five more underway.
