The Mighty Pen Poem by Juan Olivarez

The Mighty Pen

The pen is mightier than the sword,
Is that not what they say?
Well that at least, is what I've heard,
But I'll take the sword, if thats ok.

What kind of fool, would fight a duel,
Using a pen against a sword?
Oh my, that would not be too cool,
That sends shivers up my spinal cord.

Can you imagine Zorro with a pen,
Fighting the Spanish, such was his fate?
Or Errol Flynn trying to defend,
Sherwood forest with a Papermate.

Douglas Fairbanks, would be in a bind,
Tyrone Power just out of luck.
If their pentels they could'nt find,
Without their pilots they'd be stuck.

So take the pen, I'll take the sword,
You be the fool, it won't be me.
You be the peon, I'll be the Lord,
You take the pen, and before me flee.
