The Minor Poet



They told him he had a cosmic side,
that in his seriousness lay laughter,
that he was a combination
of what he found in books and made up
because it sounded good,
that he wasn't what he was
and vice versa.

'If they know that much about ME,
the more they know,
the more major a poet must be.'
