The Moment The New Year Arrives Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

The Moment The New Year Arrives

Another new year approaches.
With it understood,
The same trite expressions...
Will remain the same.
And promises to keep,
Resolutions made to break...
As a celebrated custom,
Some have awaited...
To awaken with hangovers,
Hoping no one remembers...
Who told familiar lies,
Before and after midnight.
Afterall,
People seem more forgiving.
And willing to forget,
The moment the new year arrives.

'Another new year approaches. With it understood, The same trite expressions... Will remain the same. And promises to keep, Resolutions made to break...' loved the whole poem, focused on new year's resolutions, because you defined a point I love, why wait all year to make required changes; therefore adjust time appropriately
