The Names Poem by Jim O'Donnell

The Names

The list of names is far and wide
Of all the solders who have lost their lives
Brave and strong they fight the cause
Don’t you think enough been lost?

Playing war games not much fun
When the mum at home has lost her son
Who will tell her the reason why?
As she sits and sobs, her son has died

Nothing can release her pain
She thinks the war is just insane
Her son she’ll never kiss again
