Workmates - Poem by Jim O'Donnell

My friends are leaving work today
Each going their separate ways
I’d like to wish you all the best
Workmates never the less

We worked together all these years
Through times of joy and times of tears
Through our sadness and times of fears
We stuck together all these years

We knew one day this time would come
May I say goodbye to my old chums
Happy to have known you as a friend
The memories will never end

We talked of people we knew before
Sadly some are here no more
But workmates they will always be
Just as you are to me

So all the best and take great care
In that big wide world out there
You’re clocking off just one last time
I will say good bye to that pal of mine
