The No One Poem by Steffi Webster

The No One

Rating: 5.0

Oh please I beg
Don't get me wrong
It's not the black I fear
But the unknown deep in the dark
What creatures lurk can disappear
You can't see what is coming
Or what is left behind
You can't see through the tricks and snares
Played upon your mind
The things that I dont know
The things I can't explain
Tucked away everywhere
Cause me nightly pain
Such as that little rocking chair
By day so dear and sweet
Sinisterly rocks and creaks
Makes me hear nobody's feet
You may just ask why dont I
Switch on just one small light
But that would cause the shadows
Thoses refugees of night
So as I go upstairs to bed
I linger for a while
I hear a cough and turn around
To see nobody smile
And then I hear those footsteps
I fear this strange unknown
Nobody has come and gone
I wish he left me alone

hey stef this may be my new favorite poem by you, i have felt similarly, the unkown is terrifying because it causes that one word which i fear most, surprise. you captured what i have felt many times and put it into words that no one can mistake. hope all is well. ben

We are frightened of things we can't see and mostly of the dark! Nice writing! Purple Rose
