The Old And The New Poem by Phillip HendyDavies

The Old And The New

Another year ends in a deluge of fond wishes from friends
And a further chance to proffer good intentions and make amends
To see the New Year in with a few bottles of France's finest
Shared with a group of friends to celebrate their year round kindness
We raise our glasses to remember all our absent friends
So many taken early in life without achieving their ambitious ends
Makes the end of another year a poignant reminder for most
How lucky the rest of us are to continue to enjoy our festive toast.
