The Ornament Poem by Charlene Chan

The Ornament

Hey have you ever noticed me?
Don't you know I am always here?
Tell me I am a stupid bee
Live on the pine tree
Only that pine tree

Maybe you have never loved me
Maybe it's time to set me free
I am right in front of you here
And yet, you do not notice me

Forever, I'm your foil
Which stands behind
Add colours to the picture
And pleased to see you shine
I want you to be mine
Not just the guy whom I have in my eyes
Am I ever on your mind?

Don't you know one day I might leave
When the bee can no longer breathe
Until the day I cannot see
I get back the key
And I set me free

Would you even notice me gone?
Or realize something goes wrong?
If all the grace notes in a song
are gone, would feelings still be strong?

This little pale wallpaper
who turned tougher
Has written her heartbreaker
A letter of despair
Glow the burning fire
Destroys her dream her faith her persistence
(And) Wait for her true gatekeeper

The ashes of the letter went on a ride
Around the world it travelled
She searched for her sunshine
After a long long time
She learns that no matter how hard she tries
You always stay on her mind
