The Path To Truth Poem by Tony Noel Stevens

The Path To Truth

Rating: 5.0

If we face truth with an eagle stare,
an unwavering poise, a consistent flair,
the ego’s power will lose its appeal,
the barriers of adversity will surely yield.

There’s a powerful reason we avoid what IS,
and why we miss this wonderful bliss;
it’s because the path to truth is beset with pain,
and an apparent illusion that you’ll never gain.

As you advance along this path,
the ego’s duality increases its wrath,
the walls of your sufferings enlarge and grow
because person you are is there for show.

Truth is divided into life’s contradictions,
confusing paradoxes and mental conflictions.
These will increase the further you go,
hindering your ability to perceive and know.

These conflictions are there to deceive,
blocking your way to truly receive.
It’s a battle of wills with the ego and you,
conning you always to halt what is true.

The cause of why we don’t understand
the myriad forms of God’s great hand,
is because we are biased in a personal way;
“My view sticks and it’s here to stay! ”

The conflicting opinions between you and me,
are both right and wrong; can’t you see?
Our relative standpoints are truth in disguise,
an ego in drag who uses your eyes!

To hold contrasting beliefs in a single conception,
is a mental phenomenon, a rare exception.
This will induce a catch twenty two,
a return to innocence always in you.

If only we could endure with a patient ear,
truth above all would become clear.
It seems an answer, not truth, is what we desire;
any settled opinion, to that we aspire!

An acceptance of the one, the other and the both,
to that you should resolve as a solemn oath.
Free yourself from prejudice and take the two-fold view,
accept the ups and downs and start your life anew.

This path you must follow is one lonely track;
once you begin, there’s no turning back.
It’s a fascinating feeling this road of uncertainty;
the path to truth that leads to eternity…
