The Pedant Poem by Sidi Mahtrow

The Pedant

The Pedant

'Lysander talks extremely well;
On any subject let him dwell,
His tropes and figures will content ye;
He should possess to all degrees
The art of talk; he practices
full fourteen hours in four-and-twenty.'*

*****
Lysander reminds one of a later day
Scholar that has much to say.
Who lectures both to the left and the right,
To all who would lend an ear in their plight.
This anointed one, like Lysander of old
Grows wearisome, and increasingly bold!
