The Race Poem by Randy McClave

The Race

Rating: 5.0

I am so very tired
I just can't keep up this pace,
No longer do I feel inspired
I think I am giving up the race.
Up ahead once stood the finish line
But, now it has been replaced,
I now see a "YIELD SIGN"
No longer do I run in a haste.

I am so tired of all the battles
I am also tired of the chase,
Listening to false promises that rattles
I am now red in the face.
The inspiration is all gone
My desires have all been erased,
I don't feel like going on
I think the competition was a waste.

I am so tired of this one run
I am now finally finishing this race,
No more races for me, I am now done
I don't care to finish in last place.
Now I am in no hurry
For a loss I am now embraced,
The trophy is now faded and blurry
My shoes will now be permanently unlaced.

Sometimes in life we feel so discouraged and wish to quit. Just hold on a little longer and continue to strive. Beautiful. Please kindly check my poems HOPE and THE BEAUTY OF DEATH and leave your comments. Kingsley Egbukole
