The Rain Poem by Jessie M. Combs

The Rain

Smell the rain,
all clean and fresh and new. Coming from the heavens,
wet and clear like dew. Streaks of light in zig-zags,
a crack and roll of thunder. Water streaking down,
strikes one with wonder. Washing all the earth and air,
renewing all again. Cooling the hot summer day,
blowing a fragrant wind. Rain, rain, come again,
bring a pause to heat and drought. Refresh our brows and our thirst,
renew our every thought. O-gentle rain, whisper low,
bring peace to the fast pace. Wash away our every tear,
bring a smile to our face.
