Rain falls gently down
Upon all that lies below
Scrubbing bare the grass
Washing away the snow
Falling down out of leaden skies
Clearing the air as it goes
Running down the window
In neatly ordered little rows
Washing clean the sky it passes
Down below upon the earth
Making all of the streams
Bubble over with mirth
Stroking the earth as it goes
Passing by with little giggles
That set me off once again
As I watch it flow in tiny wiggles
Washing clean all it touches
Washing away the grime and dirt
Bathing the earth's sore wounds
Leaving nary a single hurt
The waters of Mother Nature's rain
Are here to be the earth's cool shower
To scrub it clean of pain and woe
And restore the earth's great power
As it falls it calms my soul
It soothes my heart's own pain
Cleans my mind of darkest thoughts
Washes away every single stain
So thank you Lord for the rain
To wash clean all Your creation
And fall evenly across the land
Across the face of every nation
