The Ring Of The Phone Poem by ALI LOWERY

The Ring Of The Phone

The blustery wind
Felt like knifes
The sound of death
Was near approaching
The ring of the phone
Stopped our hearts
Mom’s eyes said it all
I lost my friend that day
At times my savior
Shot.
Fighting for this country
The casket came
The flag set
My worst fear
Became reality
My tears
Will never stop
Nor the coldness
in my heart.
