The Rise And Fall Of Man Poem by S Nadine Kjaerbaek

The Rise And Fall Of Man

The Rise and Fall of Man

Do you stroke your ego with your prayers and amens?
Do you believe that the Bible is the documentation
Of sins and salvation, the rise and fall of man
Collapse into feigned innocence under church bells
On holidays and Thanksgiving Sundays when you can
It's all the same, an actor's forbidden passion play
Throw a dollar in the hat, it puts your fears at bay
Who knows what happens after to death we fade
So many decades of routines that you've feigned
And you say the Kingdom of God has reigned
Some anointed prophet-Messian returns again
All I see is smoke and fire, is it Armageddon?
Why should I condemn the fall of men?
How else would he know not to do it again?
Seems the same, just blame the Jews again.
I don't need another amen, another missionary
Or New Testament up for distribution
When refused, the believers show their retribution
So take a religious holiday, your pilgrimage
While I praise wounded soldiers, so good day.
You can have it your way and leave me with my ways
I don't need another amen, or blessings from you
And stories about the rise and fall of man, again.
To me it is all the same, just forget it and start over again.
