The Sanctuary Poem by Steve Hayes

The Sanctuary

This tranquil spot of beauty
Beneath this shady tree
You made yourself a sanctuary
And set your spirit free

Your life a fleeting moment,
When gauged against all time
A mate, a son, a brother
The son that was not mine

I may never know the reasons,
Or comprehend your pain
But one thing is for certain,
I'm sure we'll meet again.
