The Selfish Giver Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

The Selfish Giver

I didn't want it.
You did.
And when it was given to you,
You gave it away.
Denying to hide another alibi.
To have others believe I took it.
But you didn't say to them,
It had belong to me in the first place.
Yet I'm the one accused of being selfish.

Now for that I get flack back!
Free unwanted publicity at my expense.
I didn't ask for that.
With the same lesson returned I thought learned.
Never to do without being picked to volunteer.
Some folks just don't appreciate,
Time others give to them to waste.
Preferring to find fault and allegations to make.
And lies to create for the attention to get!
