The Stairway Less Travelled

THE STAIRWAY LESS TRAVELLED

Each poet knows the first embrace as each new poem starts,
The handshake, too, when it takes place, as inspiration parts,
Yet there may be a further time, a journey still to make,
With higher steps, to things sublime, God's breakthrough still to break.
Here is the stairway to God's Throne, when insights spring to mind,
With secrets shared, as yet unknown, yet meant for all Mankind.

Just think of David and his psalms, the prophecies as well,
Each promise, that God soothes and calms, Man's sorrows to dispel.
Just think of Peter, and of Paul, and Gospel writers, too,
To me, each is God's miracle, their words so fresh and new.
There is a stairway, this I know, for great and higher things,
A time to climb, and upward go, to meet the King of Kings.

To study His amazing grace, His Royal Pardon shared,
To ponder on each word and phrase, beyond those first prepared.

So don't give up, and don't give in, recall God's stairway still,
To reach and preach, lost souls to win, and teach God's perfect will.
