The Stare Poem by Edwina Reizer

The Stare

We look at each other.
Can't stop the stare.
The look makes me feel
there's no one else there.

I drown in your eyes.
You drown in mine.
The drowning is like
I'm in red wine.

I see the lashes.
I see the brows.
What secrets do they hold?
What is it they house?

I must avert my eyes
but it's hard to do.
So the stare returns
and so do you.
