The Still Poem by Mikey Diggs

The Still

Rating: 5.0

At times I sit and stare
I lookie here, I lookie there
I think of past, I think of past
I think of futures that would not last
Times forgotten but never lost
Memories fade but surface up
Corruptive thoughts of hopes and dreams
Optimism, or so it seems

On my worst days I return
Will I ever, ever learn
A paradox, a fantasy
you and me, a memory
What is now, we were then
All those damn promises
Fingers gracing your 2D
You're still the present to me

The nostalgia of a still
Seems the breaker of my will
Take me back, it takes me there
Tracing you, in daze I stare
The elegance of your being
Captured aura, captured scene
Captured beauty, captured lover
Captured love of one another
Optimism or so it seems
Optimism or so it seems
