The Stranger In Me (Sonnet) Poem by Mihaela Pirjol

The Stranger In Me (Sonnet)

Rating: 5.0

I delved into my depths to look for Me:
A reflection of a stranger greets me;
I stared into her empty eyes and soul,
Wondering, —is she me? —is she my whole?
The mirror of awareness: self to self,
Where loneliness dwells, pity for itself:
Where am I? Where's myself? I asked again:
‘Endurance in despair, distorted pain! '
How can I wholly love myself, alive,
If half in darkness mind's leading me blind?
Merged with the past, no future on my sight,
Memory's cord strangling my life, so tight!
‘Then you should make me a good friend of yours:
Leave agony behind! —shut all Past's doors! '

Self introspection has been vividly portrayed. Whole poem is on self discovery with touching words. I mark two lines impressive especially..... Merged with the past, no present nor future on my sight, Memory's cord strangling my life, pulling tight, so tight; Thank you dear madam for sharing this gem with us.

How can I love myself completely, whole, alive, If half in darkness mind's eyes are leading me blind? .......very insightful and introspection expression! I appreciate the style of your penning.....10
