The Struggles Of Life - Poem by Nneoma Akaniro

Remember that sour feeling you get when you have read for long hours without a break

Remember that tense feeling that holds you down when you recall you have upcoming exams which you are unready for

Remember that long and heavy sigh you heave when you recall the mountain of work you still have to do

Remember the arches and the cramps you feel on your back and on your hands when you sit for long hours on the computer attending to course works

Remember the various friendships and relationships you allow to suffer because you have an unbalanced busy life

Remember the intense frustration that envelops you when you face difficult challenges while attending to a task

Remember the radiant smile that fills your heart and fills your lips

That overwhelming feeling of joy, of happiness, of accomplishment that over takes your entire being and envelops your heart and soul

When you have achieved a set goal

When you have struggled and have succeeded

When you have tried and eventually have passed

These are the things that make us human

These are the things that keep us going

This is the reason we live

So next time you find yourself in a hard spot, busy, challenged, frustrated

Remember, it is only but a short while

Difficulties may last throughout the night but surely laughter comes in the morning
