The Sunflower Poem by Jude Della Rosa

The Sunflower

Infuse me in your light
My thousand seeded belly
Will seek you out and give you pleasure,
My soft yellow halo
Will tenderly curl each petal tip
To capture your caress.

Choose me in the dark,
My million stem hairs
Will harden into thorns:
And all the stroms and droughts I would have weathered,
Will mock the quiet distrust,
Where one stray rustle will make dust of us.
