The Surprising Gift Of Hospitality! Poem by Denis Martindale

The Surprising Gift Of Hospitality!

When people knock upon my door, they don't always come in,
I give them chocolates, sometimes more, thanksgiving to begin.
God bless you, some will say to me, that always brings me cheer,
Thanksgiving feels so good to see when visitors come near.
In years gone by, some Christians shared God's Scriptures in their house,
By faith, they lived and truly cared yet none of these had powers.
No signs and wonders were revealed, no miracles in sight,
It was as if they stayed concealed, regardless, day or night.
Yet lovingkindness filled the room, as Jesus was explained,
Christ then removed all thoughts of gloom, so none of these remained.
And when I left, and I was gone, my heart was lifted high,
As if by grace, new light had shone, the kind no man could buy.
A free gift from God's heart to mine, such that more faith got stirred,
So precious since it was divine, as holy as God's Word.
Psalm 22 still comes to mind, revealing Calvary,
The King of Kings died for Mankind, His Blood was shed for me.
