The Thingamajig Poem by Richard D Remler

The Thingamajig

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was not quite what I wanted.
"It doesn't work, " I'd often say.
But, ah, it really should have
If things ever went my way.
It sort of looks kind of funny,
The way it sits there on the lawn,
With all of its gadgets not running,
And all of its power turned on.
The Tweezle-ator is not tweezing.
And it's Confarburator doesn't go ding.
If it were not for the Optimist I'm sure I am,
I'd be done with the entire thing.
Why the lights do not light up
Is quite beyond me.
And why the beepers don't go beep is
Just a shame!
I'm disappointed,
And utterly flustered.
I doubt I'll even give it a name.
Its Filometer is oh, so silent.
Not filometing at all.
And if there's something a Filometer
Should be doing,
It's filometing some filom that's
A thousand feet tall.
So I've concluded I've combobulateda nothing,
And used every single gadget I could find.
I'll start working on the Owner's Manual later,
If anything creative comes to mind.
