I've no reason to question the dark
Nor does my mind ponder upon light
My brain does not stand back
and question the existence of such things

I have no need to know
the distance of the universe
Whether or not we evolved from apes
does not concern me

That time could stop
and no one would know it
doesn't bother me in the least...
So what IF Hell freezes over?

But I wonder....
What do you see when you look up in the sky? -
How do you keep warm when it's cold?
Do you think we live on, after we die? -
What's the very best game you've bowled?

Can you tell me if you're afraid of heights? -
Does a love song make you cry?
Do you talk to yourself when you turn out the lights? -
or cross your fingers when you tell a lie?

Do you close your eyes when you kiss? -
When you were made, did they break the mold?
Have you ever been asked a question like this? -
Do you think that you look too old?

These are the things that get caught in my thoughts-
Not things that we see, like birds in the air,
or leaves in a tree, they'll be there long after we're gone

But as long as I'm here, I want you to know-
there's something I want too make clear-
I want to tell you before it's my time to go-
that you are the ones I hold dear

You are the one... my daughter... my son...
My darling, my love, my dearest, my God,
in heaven above, when all's said and done
I'll have to agree- of so many thoughts
that reside within me-
it's you that are second to none

You see... these are the things so important to me
- not moonbeams, or rainbows, or fish in the sea

I don't need to know how a curveball is thrown
or how many books I could possibly own

It's you who are the most endearing, adhering...
Unwavering thought that can ever be
