Gauge Poem by Joe Fraccalvieri

Gauge

Rating: 5.0

There are things which can‘t be measured
By scales or rules… By schools of fools…
Instruments, tools, or time--
The extent of hope, the weight of despair,
the depth of hate-- of Love…
The clouds that move through the rising air…
The clime of crime… A mother's care…
Heaven above… The power of prayer

There are things for which we have no gauge
to hold a standard to…
How can we tell how much is false
from the things we believe are true?

We can't begin to measure
the amount of what we know…
so how can we say that something‘s there
when others would say it aint so?

There are things that defy the power of the eye
to see with ease, such subtleties,
which exist in length, in breadth, and height
We cannot learn if we cannot discern
the variants of wrong and right

Just as our sight,
like shades of gray, by light of day
resides between black and white,
all we see fades away,
when daylight turns to night

But in God's Love for us, you will find,
the proof that's in His Plan--
And it's through His eyes, loving and wise,
where He draws the line to finely define
the very measure of Humankind…
For Woman… And for Man
