The Twenties Poem by Lonnie Hicks

The Twenties

Rating: 2.8

I have laid down with joy and laughter;
I have wallowed in pity;
kissed evil
and ran away
from what loved me;

ran away from what I loved;
hid from
my own inner truths;
forgotten
too many bad times
and late night
mistakes.
.
My tears
fill
oceans
without names
and I've groveled
on linoleum floors;
made calls
on that porcelain phone
forgotten my own name.

My regrets are many;
fun times too
but, but but,

God
please let me out
of my twenties.
