The Ultimate Sacrifice Poem by Edward Schriner

The Ultimate Sacrifice

He was born in a manger
A simple bed filled with hay
A special child likes nobody else
Destined to give his life away.

He wandered the countryside
Teaching His Father's Word
Yet only a very select few
Chose to believe what they had heard.

He performed such great miracles
And spoke in allegorical tales
Of lessons to be learned according to the Word
All speaking of a love that would not fail.

He was betrayed by one of His pupils
To an exceptionally angry and judgmental jury
Whom all they could hear in a fierce roar
Was Satan's voice yelling, 'Hurry! Kill Him! Hurry! '

He was hung on a cross to die
All knowing that He was Jesus Christ
No one really ever had any idea
That He would become the ultimate sacrifice.
