The Valediction Of Space Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Valediction Of Space

and so there was so much
of me
in the celestial universe
in the forests and the deserts
in the oceans and horizons

everyone is owed and freshened
no tightness of the hearts exists

until you filled me with almost
everything
a city of blocks and skyscrapers
a sky of satellites
a desert where wars are waged
where so much blood is shed
a river without water
a room filled with what you
do not need
the world is having a hard time
breathing
the skies are vomiting
the space threatening with
lost planets and asteroids.

soon the deluge will cure all
these
soon the chaos will burst and
there will be no more of that
humanity.

and i will be whole again
and i will celebrate the silence
of smooth motion
like gears to oil
like petals in air.
